Rendezvous at the Fort

Mountain men trappers' and traders' encampments as it was at Bent’s Old Fort in the 1830s. Meet the Indian Nations today – ceremonial dances, singing, and the history of each respective Indian nation, many of whose ancestors traded at Bent’s Old Fort.
Meet the award-winning Spanish Colonial artists who carry on their culture with handmade retablos and bultos, tin art, micaceous clay pottery, and beautiful weavings from churro wool.
Storytellers, music with Rex Rideout, and much more! Delicious food – frito pie, tamales, and more from the Fort!

Rendezvous Participants: to be determined


A day at the Rendezvous at The Fort is a day in the early West, offering engaging and immersive fun for the whole family. Historic interpreters will show guests day-to-day skills from the 1840s, such as sign language, wool processing, domestic arts, black powder shooting competition, and more. Additional activities include a Scavenger Hunt, informative lectures and documentary film showings, raptors, mammals, and reptiles provided by Nature’s Educators, storytelling by Angel Vigil and Komi Casica, music of the period by Rex Rideout, The American Indian powwow and dance demonstrations by the Denver Singers, and artwork by Spanish colonial artists using traditional methods. Concessions will be provided onsite by The Fort Restaurant.

Patron Party

The festivities for this event will kick off with a Tesoro Meet the Artists Patron Party on Friday, September 20, 2024, from 6 – 9 p.m. at The Fort (19192 Highway 8 in Morrison). Guests will have the first opportunity to purchase award-winning art and enjoy live music and entertainment. There will be food and beverages available for purchase. Ticketed guests will receive a prickly pear margarita or non-alcoholic cooler and guacamole and chips.

This Weekend-Long Event Included:

  • Demonstrations throughout the weekend by Mountain Men and Frontier Women, including fire-starting, beadwork, Indian sign language, wool processing, and a Flintlock Rifle Shoot.

  • Storytelling and musical performances by Angel Vigil, Komi Casica and Rex Rideout, Flamenco Dancing from Fiesta Colorado and more. Stay tuned for exact dates/times.

  • Hands-on activities for all ages including a Scavenger Hunt for children.

  • See raptors, mammals, and reptiles provided by Nature’s Educators.

  • Informative Lectures and Documentary Film Showings about the Fur Trade, the region’s Early Spanish Settlers, and more!
